Yuchao Yang is a Boya Distinguished Professor at Peking University, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and a New Cornerstone Investigator. He serves as Dean of the School of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Deputy Dean of the School of AI for Science. His long-term research focuses on compute-in-memory chips, neuromorphic computing, and brain–computer interfaces. He has led more than 20 major and key research projects, including projects under the National Key R&D Program of China, the New Cornerstone Investigator Program, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, an Integrated Project of the NSFC Major Research Plan, NSFC Key Projects, the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation’s Young Teacher Fund, the “Chip Design and Manufacturing” Program under the Guangdong Provincial Key-Area R&D Program, and the Shenzhen Key Industrial R&D Program.He has published more than 190 papers in leading journals and conferences, including Science, Nature Electronics, Nature Reviews Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Science Advances, IEDM, ISSCC, VLSI, MICRO, and HPCA. He has also contributed five book chapters in Chinese and English and has filed or been granted more than 70 Chinese invention patents. His work has received more than 18,000 citations, with an h-index of 59. His research was selected as one of the “Top 10 AI Advances of 2020” by the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence and among the “Top 10 Academic Advances in China’s Semiconductor Field in 2022” by Ijiwei. Professor Yang has delivered more than 100 plenary, keynote, and invited talks at international academic conferences. He has served as Chief Scientist of a National Key R&D Program project and as a council member of both the 6th and 7th Councils of the China Association for Young Scientists. He currently serves as Associate Editor of npj Unconventional Computing, an area editor of Acta Electronica Sinica, an editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Semiconductors, National Science Review, and Chip, and a Young Editorial Board Member of Science China Information Sciences. His honors include the inaugural EXPLORER PRIZE, the Youth Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the Zhongguancun Outstanding Young Scholar Award, the New Cornerstone Investigator Award, the Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholar Award, the Wiley Young Researcher Award, recognition as one of MIT Technology Review China’s “35 Innovators Under 35,” and the National Top 10 Outstanding Young Scientists Award in Brain–Computer Interfaces. He has also been recognized as a Highly Cited Chinese Researcher by Elsevier for six consecutive years from 2020 to 2025.
